Hi guys! So, a very exciting thing happened! I was tagged in The Harry Potter tag by Emily @ That Weird Girl Life! Go check her post out.
So what you do is: answer the HP themed questions given to you, then tag other HP fans to do the same.
I love Harry Potter. I’m not an overly open superfan, but I do enjoy it a lot. I’ve never been into sorting myself into houses etc etc, but it was quite exciting to do it for this post!
Let’s get started…
What house are you in?
I was sorted into Hufflepuff! I must admit, it was the house I was hoping for. Hufflepuff’s are loyal, patient (
debatable), fair, hard-working & true.
PLUS Cedric Diggory (and Tonks but she sucks in the movies and I haven’t read the books in way too long)
I also got myself sorted into an Ilvermony house:
I must admit, I’m falling behind on #~new~# Harry Potter news, and I didn’t know much about this house. I did a bit of reading up, and saw that the founder of this house was intelligent but often temperamental. Take what you want from that, lol.
What is your patronus?
I honestly had no idea what my patronus was going to be, so I was so happy when I saw it was a bloodhound. I love dogs, and my childhood dog passed away not too long ago, so it made me ridiculously happy/nostalgic to see that my patronus was a breed of dog.
Those with the Bloodhound as a patronus have good morals and a loyal heart.
Their moral values revolve around what is right for those around them and keeping life fair. They are not easily corrupted in personal beliefs and do not have their interests dictated by others.
Joyful in character and with a patient heart, someone with this patronus makes a fantastic friend.
A downfall of those with the Bloodhound patronus is that they can be stubborn and often do not realise the extent of this obstinate streak. However, this same characteristic of stubbornness has a positive twist when there is a task in hand. Those with this patronus are often determined and strong willed and will not be moved from a plan easily.
This made me so happy, I can’t even.
What is your wand?
Chestnut Wood (via Pottermore)
This is a most curious, multi-faceted wood, which varies greatly in its character depending on the wand core, and takes a great deal of colour from the personality that possesses it. The wand of chestnut is attracted to witches and wizards who are skilled tamers of magical beasts, those who possess great gifts in Herbology, and those who are natural fliers. However, when paired with dragon heartstring, it may find its best match among those who are overfond of luxury and material things, and less scrupulous than they should be about how they are obtained. Conversely, three successive heads of the Wizengamot have possessed chestnut and unicorn wands, for this combination shows a predilection for those concerned with all manner of justice.
Phoenix Feather Core (via Pottermore)
This is the rarest core type. Phoenix feathers are capable of the greatest range of magic, though they may take longer than either unicorn or dragon cores to reveal this. They show the most initiative, sometimes acting of their own accord, a quality that many witches and wizards dislike. Phoenix feather wands are always the pickiest when it comes to potential owners, for the creature from which they are taken is one of the most independent and detached in the world. These wands are the hardest to tame and to personalise, and their allegiance is usually hard won.
10 Inches in length – there wasn’t much about this, except for that is kind of the average length of a wand.
Hard Flexibility (via Pottermore)
Wand flexibility or rigidity denotes the degree of adaptability and willingness to change possessed by the wand-and-owner pair – although, again, this factor ought not to be considered separately from the wand wood, core and length, nor of the owner’s life experience and style of magic, all of which will combine to make the wand in question unique.
What would your boggart be?
Hmm. Nothing. Literally, nothing. My biggest fear is failing and being left with absolutely nothing (no friends, no family, no BB, no job etc etc). Bit deep, so if you’re looking for a light-hearted one? I’d do a Ron & go with spiders.
What position would you play in quidditch?
I would play the position of adoring girlfriend. Lol, I am so shit at sports, and I’m scared of heights so I think I’d sit that one out. I can imagine BB being great at quidditch though, so he can be on the team and I’ll just watch.
Would you be Pure blood, Half blood or Muggle born?
Hmm. I feel like I’d definitely be a Half blood. I could definitely imagine my mum attending Hogwarts (and I bet she’d be a bloody seeker), but not my dad. Also, one of my aunties (on my mums side), I could imagine her being a bit of a Luna Lovegood in her younger days.
What job would you want after graduating from Hogwarts?
Gah, I’m so boring & I love the job I’m doing IRL now. I mean, I guess wizarding celebrities still pay taxes right? Maybe I’ll be a wizarding accountant, however that would work.
I expect I’d end up doing something boring for the Ministry of Magic. Lol.
Which of the Deathly Hallows would you choose?
Definitely the invisibility cloak! God, I would have so much fun sneaking up on people (mainly my little brother & BB lol). And I’m suuuure I’d use it for good too…
Hmm… God I haven’t read the books in so damn long I’m completely out of touch! I remember always loving the Order of the Phoenix when I was younger (until the end of course). I loved Dumbledores army, and Fred & George leaving. Just a brilliant book.
Least favourite book?
The Half Blood Prince. I don’t know why, but when I originally read this book I was so disappointed (I was also 9 and on holiday at my dads parents, so that may be a factor) and since then I’ve never been able to take to the book. I just found it a bit of a filler book, without knowing what was going to happen in The Deathly Hallows, of course. As I’ve got older I do appreciate the book and the movie a bit more, but I’m always reminded of how much I struggled reading it that first time.
I love all of the films. But my favourite is probably The Deathly Hallows pt 2. I just love watching it all wrap up, the scene where Harry visits Snape’s memories in the pensieve and you realise what was happening in front of you the whole time, where Molly kills Bellatrix Lestrange, where Neville shows so much courage, Ron & Hermione have that kiss in the Chamber. God I just love it so much. I am a sucker for happy endings and, although not completely happy (RIP TONKS, LUPIN, FRED, COLIN, LAVENDER), I just love the ending.
Least favourite film?
I don’t dislike any of the movies, I think that all of the movies missed out some great bits included in the books, but none of them missed the general storyline or completely changed it. I guess I’d have to say The Order of the Pheonix (oh my god, I know I said that was my favourite book sorry!). There is the whole bit about the prophecy which is soooooooooo brushed over in the movie – what about the fact that prophecy could have been about Neville (I know you know it isn’t, but isn’t that important?) and I hated Sirius Blacks scene where he dies. He fell through the ‘veil’ which in the movies was just this stupid door thing. I hated that. So so much. I don’t know why so don’t ask me, I just did.
Sirius Black. NO QUESTIONS. I loved him in the books (and cried for far too long when he died, but I was only like 7 or 8 lol) and when I saw him in the movies and saw he was played by my beloved Gary Oldman I was even more smitten. To tell you the truth, I fancy him a bit.
Least favourite character?
Uh, is it cliche to just say Umbridge? I hope so. I have nothing more to say except for that I hate her.
Favourite teacher at Hogwarts?
It’s a cross between McGonagall and Snape. In completely different ways of course. McGonagall is the mother hen, she will protect you openly and not let harm come in the way. And Snape was brilliant, there are some really comedic moments with him which make me love him (more as a character than a teacher though).
Leaste favourite teacher at Hogwarts?
See 2 points above, least favourite character.
Do you have any unpopular opinions about the series?
I have a lot of opinions about the series, but I’m not sure if any of them are ‘unpopular opinions’?
They completely dumbed down and de-shelled Ginny in the movies. Same with Tonks. Voldemort as a teen was kinda hot. Dumbledore was not a complete saint and practically raised Harry to die. Snape was not a goody nor a baddie. Etc Etc.
If you could save one character from the finale battle, who would it be?
Fred. I know I should say Lupin or Tonks, but I’m not. I’d save Fred. It’s completely selfish, but that is just how I feel.
Now, the people I tag are:
Thanks for reading (if you got to the end, you are a complete saint!).
