Hellooo everyone! So I had this planned, and it wasn’t until I was drafting all of these posts on Saturday (it is now Sunday) that I realised I have actually never even tried this lipstick out. I bought two that were similar and have only tried 1 of them out… Whooopsie.
The makeup product I’m going to be speaking about today is the Matte Me Ultra Smooth Matte Lip Cream (what a mouthful) from Sleek.
You can get this product for £4.99 from Superdrug or Boots. For some reason I thought that Sleek was Superdrugs own brand (dont ask me why???) so I was amaaazed when I saw that you could get the products in Boots too. AND they even have their own website… Lol.
This is the first (and still only) product that I’ve ever purchased from Sleek.
I thought that the packaging for the product was quite simple, but that didn’t bother me (as long as the product is good, amirite?)
I love dark purple lipsticks, I have far too many of them. Although this is a good thing because there is a 99% chance that I will purchase a dark purple lipstick whenever it is spotted, it means that I hold them to a high standard as I have soooo many.
When I originally swatched it on the skin, I really liked the colour and consistency of the product. It wasn’t too dark but wasn’t too light either (sometimes when you put the product on your lips they end up completely black or a lilac-y colour).
The first thing I noticed after application was how streaky the product looked. I could see each individual line which I had (tried) to blend into my lipliner. The product also settled into each crack in my lip and applied darker to drier areas of the lip.
After the product had completely dried, it did not look as bad. Although it felt quite heavy and obvious that I was wearing it.
However, after eating or drinking something, this product completely started to peel off. Every time I closed my mouth my lips stuck together, with each unpressing of them more product came off in the process. This was after about 3 – 4 hours of wearing product, so they lasted nicely until then.
The product was still showing nicely around the edges of my mouth – so if you have the patience (which I do not) to take the product with you and reapply after food, then it will be fine.
All in all, I think it is a good deal for the price and would look nice if you had smooth lips and took the product with you to reapply after any bites of food.
Thanks for reading.
